In Spring 2007, I was selected for Rider’s first Accounting Co-op, officially launching my career with KPMG. Later upon receiving an offer from the firm’s Financial Services Audit Practice, I reflect today on my time there as one of great challenge and reward. KPMG afforded me the diversity of skills that qualified me for the opportunity at Verus. Leaving the stability of a “big four” firm for a younger start-up was a risk, but I have never looked back. Verus has taught me the intricacies of management, the complexities of strategic leadership and the emotions of business development. When approached in 2012 with the opportunity to be an adjunct professor at Rider, Verus supported my passion to promote lifelong learning. I consider my role at Rider one of my most relished accomplishments. The hundreds of students I have interacted with have truly made me a better professional, leader and mentor.
I have had the privilege to engage in many philanthropic activities, each enriching my life and approach to my career. Although all rewarding, none have been more heartening than my engagement at Rider. Whether serving as an Alumni Board Director, on the Presidents Strategic Planning Committee, as a student mentor, on the Accounting Advisory Council or as an adjunct professor, I have had the opportunity to make everlasting impacts. As the thousands of students affected by the decisions of these roles become future business leaders, I humbly hope that I have contributed to making them better mentors for future generations.

Reading to my children last evening I came across a childhood quote from Dr. Seuss’ “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”. “Step with care and great tact and remember that Life’s a Great Balancing Act. Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left.” That quote reminds me that life’s challenges can be distracting but focusing on that which is truly important defines success. Family is the most important thing in my life and I thank them and my parents for their unwavering support and sacrifice in my life’s journey.
